The Lord of The Rings Block of the month 2013

The fantastic novel about the one magic ring has been published by J.R.R.Tolkien in 1954/55. The opulent fantasy story appears like a "fairy tale from ancient times" and has inspired many readers since then. As radio play and film epic it has found countless friends all over the world. Maybe because everybody may see a bit of oneself in one of the many figures which populate middle earth ...
With Fandom in Stitches Jennifer Ofenstein offers a platform for free paper piecing patterns illustrating film and comic strip themes. They are drafted by several designers and made available in an international collaboration free of charge. My six young colleagues at the "Lord of the Rings" (LotR)-BOM live in the USA and Australia, and Lilja Björk from Iceland is hosting it.
In the course of the year a total of 29 (!) blocks will appear here on the first Friday each month. Blocks may be assembled at the end after a given plan. Standard block size is 7" by 7" plus some special formats. You will find an overview of already published LotR blocks at the end of this page.
